When some of us receive Christ, the devil negotiate with us and say, I will leave but please allow me to leave my coat here and we agree.
In our Christian walk, every now and then the devil come and say, I did not come to you, I came to check on my coat. The coat will be anything that the devil still have a hold on you i.e unforgiveness, gossip, hatred. Colossians 3:12-15 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
You can not move forward with Christ with this baggage. 1 John 3:14-15 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
Ask God to help remove anything that is not from him. When the devil has a hold on you, it affects your prayer life. Every time you try to pray, he’ll remind you of what he still hold against you. Ephesians 4:26-27 “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
