The people who opposed Jesus’ work were not people outside church, it was respected church elders. Anything people don’t know, they criticize and what they don’t understand, they reject.
Acts 6:8-10 Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. But one day some men from the Synagogue of Freed Slaves, as it was called, started to debate with him. They were Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and the province of Asia. None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.
Know the people who you are sent to, then you won’t be frustrated in your calling. Matthew 15:24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” A church where Jesus is the cornerstone, will be seen by the works that He did. You cannot follow a person whom you don’t like his doing. Luke 9:1-2 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
