2 Samuel 11:2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.
David allowed the flesh to influence his decision making and this made God angry. God gave us the ability to make choices but in our choices, we must always remember that we cannot decide on the consequences that follows.2 Samuel 12:10 Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’
The garden of eden is about boundaries, choices, and responsibility. If boundaries are not maintained, we will get hurt or hurt those around us. God implemented his first boundary with man and because of the choice that Adam and Eve made, we are born into the sinful nature. Sin became a new normal. Genesis 2:16-17 But the LORD God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden- except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
God won’t stop you from fulfilling your fleshly desires but the consequences that follows are unavoidable. Deuteronomy 30:19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
