When Jesus is the one making us to change, the worldly things that seem important, those that attracted us, becomes nothing. On our own we are only capable of destroying ourselves. If man could help themselves or could change on their, there was no need for Jesus Christ to die for us. Acts 9:3-9 As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one! Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink.
2 Samuel 9:6-7 Now when Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?” And he answered, “Here is your servant!” So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
God declared blessings and to multiply Abraham’ descendants. His children were blessed because of his faithfulness. Genesis 22:15-17 Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son- blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
There is also the adverse results of not doing good. Your lineage will be affected by your decisions today long after you are gone. Your carelessness might not affect you now but your children maybe affected by you actions today. Deuteronomy 5:8-9 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected-even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.
There are things at churches that are initiated by congregants out of the love of the set man. It’s not always possible for the Pastor to stop some of these initiatives. The view from outside is sometimes misinterpreted but if you can find out why people do the things they do at churches, you’ll realize that you comment out of lack of information. 2 Kings 2:15-17 When the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance what happened, they exclaimed, “Elijah’s spirit rests upon Elisha!” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him. “Sir,” they said, “just say the word and fifty of our strongest men will search the wilderness for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has left him on some mountain or in some valley.” “No,” Elisha said, “don’t send them.” But they kept urging him until they shamed him into agreeing, and he finally said, “All right, send them.” So fifty men searched for three days but did not find Elijah.
2 Kings 7:3-4 Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other. “We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway.”
What people don’t know, they reject, what they don’t understand they criticize. Luke 13:32 Jesus replied, “Go tell that fox that I will keep on casting out demons and healing people today and tomorrow; and the third day I will accomplish my purpose. The same deliverance and healing he did, He continues to do through His servants today. Why are we rejecting His works today, is it because we don’t believe that God can heal or we don’t believe the people ministering the healing? God’s people are suffering while pastors fights about owning congregants. When you are called by God, you will know your purpose and will not spend time worrying about what another Pastor is doing. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Those who rejected the works during Jesus era, also rejected Him, so they had reason to want to believe that He can do what He said He can do. If you follow someone, you want to imitate what they are doing. If you are rejecting Jesus’ works and you are a Pastor, who are you following. What part of his ministry are you practicing? What about the gift of the Holy Spirit?
When you use your possessions to manipulate people, the day God open doors of breakthrough in their life, you’ll call them names because that relationships with them only served your ego. You can’t be happy when you are the only one who is successful.
Luke 17:1 Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! People will offend you, don’t let your mind stay long in offense state else it affects your prayer life. Instead of praying, you’ll be reporting those who offended you and God will be surprised because they are also his children. Ephesians 4:26-27 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
State of offense will drain every resource in your mind. You cannot think positive when your are offend hence people advise “Don’t make decisions when you are angry”. When you approach God in prayer, the devil will remind you of your heart status.
People will elevate you and when you are up there, they will leave you to fall. Acts 14:11-15 When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in their local dialect, “These men are gods in human form!” They decided that Barnabas was the Greek god Zeus and that Paul was Hermes, since he was the chief speaker. Now the temple of Zeus was located just outside the town. So the priest of the temple and the crowd brought bulls and wreaths of flowers to the town gates, and they prepared to offer sacrifices to the apostles. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard what was happening, they tore their clothing in dismay and ran out among the people, shouting, “Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings-just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.
The love that congregants have for their pastors, sometimes move beyond respect and become a worship. As a Pastor always be in touch with people who follow you. It’s very easy for people to be hurt by those working close with you in the name of securing you or shielding you from crowd and attention.
