By its nature things of the world are attractive even to those who goes to church.

Satan has created his world to be so attractive and tempting and requires us to be disciplined and to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit for guidance. 1 John 2:16-17 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Sometimes you find Christians trying to justify their actions and habits because they find themselves wanting to fit in with their peers. A call to Christianity is a call for sacrifice. Matthew Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

One can pick up signs but in the name of serving continue following.

Saul was called and anointed by God but God later moved away from Him because he was disobedient. It is possible for one to start well but due to failure to manage fleshy desires, fall out of favor with God.

Matthew 7:15-18 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.

It is difficult to move away from a mentor you’ve grown under or known for a long time. You can see the signs but continue with him in the name of serving. David grew under Saul and knew he was an anointed man of God, even when David saw the bad side of Saul, he continued to serve him.

Do you think there are man and woman of God today, who started well but later turned to something?

We are called into different functions

Philip preached the Word of God, People were touched and they accepted the Lord, he baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus but it was only through the laying of hands by Peter and John that they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:16-17 The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit. Even though Philip had the Holy Spirit His calling was only for preaching, he never performed any miracles and never felt bitter that Peter and John came and took the glory from him. The different gifts that God gave are for the strengthening of the house of God but so far we are so divided by the different gifts that exist today. If one knows what they are called for, they won’t be bothered by what others are doing.

Jealousy has divide the house of God. Man and Woman of God stand before the pulpit to ridicule one another misleading the children of God. Pastors want to own the congregants as if they are their people and forget that these are God’s people. Whatever role you played, you have planted a seed, let another water it, it’s all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

No amount of preaching can change a man.

We attend services, man and woman of God gives what we call powerful sermons yet only few will be impacted by the preaching. There is always a loud shout of “Amen” as the preaching continues but it’s only the Holy Spirit that can effect that change. Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. One need his own Damascus moment for a true revelation of who God is. Going into discussion and argue God’s existence, will only exhaust you. The men walking with Saul, heard the voice but we’re never touched as it did to Saul. You must be authorized for what you are saying to make an impact in your preaching. Acts 9:7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one!

When there is a visitation by the Holy Spirit, no man can convince you otherwise about God. Most of us, we grew up in Christian families but never had our own expirience with God, hence we can be long standing members with bad and unforgiving hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

Paul was surprised to meet people who have been long in the Lord yet never knew the Holy Spirit. We are just happy to be gathering every Sunday in spiritual gymnastics, yet we continue to grieve the Holy Spirit with our conduct. Acts 19:1-2 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers. “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them. “No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
