Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Jeremiah 15:16 When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.
God is consistency Himself.
Most people I have heard arguing the tithe issue, one of the statement made is that, God was speaking to the Israelites. I think one needs to have a personal revelation on what God is saying through his Word. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Paul was writing to the church of Conrith, Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colosse, Thessalonica, and his spiritual sons: Timothy, Titus and to Philemon his co-worker. Does it mean those scriptures are not speaking to us today?
God and his Word are one and He does not change. What shall we say of this? God is consistency himself. When you are not consistent on what you are doing you are not called for that. Romans 16:25-27 Now all glory to God, who is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says. This message about Jesus Christ has revealed his plan for you Gentiles, a plan kept secret from the beginning of time. But now as the prophets foretold and as the eternal God has commanded, this message is made known to all Gentiles everywhere, so that they too might believe and obey him. All glory to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen.
This scripture says, the scriptures applies to us also so we may believe and obey God.
There are things that we must stay away from that suppresses the Word of God.
James 1:21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
We always talk about the small within us. That is the Word that is alive in us, which keep us in check. One can choose to ignore it or grow it. James 2:8 Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
A student is taught, he revise and get tested by writing an exam. A Christian has the, study the Bible, and get tested by situations. In every situation that confront us, the Word speak before us. Our relationship that we maintain by studying the Word, helps us to obey it. Hebrews 10:16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
Acts 8:29-31 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and walk along beside the carriage." Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" The man replied, "How can I, unless someone instructs me?" And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.
Don't be hardened by religion like the Pharisees, be spiritual. The disciples walked with Jesus yet they did not know Him, only Peter had the revelation of who He was. Matthew 16:17 Jesus replied, "You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.
We read and hear preaching about loving others, forgiveness, tithe and yet the true meaning of these things haven't been revealed to us hence it is easy for Christians to be in church and not talk to another. The true meaning of forgiveness hasn't been revealed to them. Pray that God reveals who you ought to be and what it means to be a Christian, then you will not be confused by people who want to make sense of scriptures using their effort.
We are spiritual beings with human experience. Beyond what we see, hear and feel, there is a super power. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But people who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
David in his physical form, had a lot of mistakes that shouldn't have qualified him to be a person we look up to, beyond who he was, there was a man after God's heart.
Matthew 13:18-19 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. The Bible is like any book, bought at any street corner but becomes the Holy Bible, when you leave it. Leaving it means being guided by the Holy Spirit. Why is it that man and woman of God stand on the pulpit and denounce a certain way of preaching when we are all reading the same book, following the same Master? Acts 8:29-31 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.
When you preach without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you are just giving information hence some will come out and say the sermon was boring. Holy Spirit must guide you in what His people thirst for. Don’t say wha people want to hear but what will change their lives.
John 14:26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative-that is, the Holy Spirit-he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Making the Word a standard for your life and being prayerful are our best defense during attack. You cannot fight the devil if you don’t dwell in the Word. The bible is our sword that we must arm ourselves with to fight in the spiritual war fair.Ephesians 6:17-18 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
A prayerless life provides and entry for the spiritual life to be attacked. When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness after His forty days fast,He said “it is written”
