Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom. Pride is the best platform a Christian can ever give to Satan. With pride, small things becomes big things in a person’s eyes. Conflicts comes because we cannot take the other’s weakness and the attitude of “My way else, the highway”. Proverbs 13:10 Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.
Take time to look at how you conducted yourself and see if some of your actions are not because of pride. Ephesians 4:26-27 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Once you think the success you have is your own doing, you’ll will fall very hard. The praises are enough to destroy you.
Daniel 4:22 That tree, Your Majesty, is you. For you have grown strong and great; your greatness reaches up to heaven, and your rule to the ends of the earth.
2 Chronicles 26:16 But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.
It’s not that people don’t know what is right, their pride wouldn’t allow them to do right. Pride stands in the way for people to have a good relationship with Christ. Obadiah 1:3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’
1 John 2:4 If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. To continue in pride means you are far from salvation, you are just adding numbers in church.
How many Christians inside church don’t talk to each other or have somebody they vowed never to forgive. What makes a person listen to a sermon about forgiveness yet comes out and continue with thought of not forgiving. There is another power that is at play, power that is dominating the believer’s thoughts. Romans 7:21-23 I have discovered this principle of life-that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Pride is affliction and requires deliverance. You cannot wish it away, confess and seek help.
The toughts if God can not exist together with pride. Psalm 10:4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
Measure your spiritual maturity by the way you react when faced with a person who hurt you. Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. Pride talks louder when faced with those who hurt us. When the spirit man talks to you about forgiveness, pride doesn’t allow you to submit to what the spirit man says. People even go to the extent of using phrases like “Over my dead body” Do you real want to go to the grave with unforgiveness?
When you break your arm, the doctors will put POP or cast on your arm to allow for healing process. When Christians are hurt, they don’t allow time to heal and choose to ignore. When you are hurt go to God and say “I am hurt, please restore me, heal me Lord”, ask God to help you forgive those you can’t. Don’t allow Satan to have a hold on you. Just today, many Christians will go to sleep while having a baggage of family members, colleagues, and friends they don’t speak to. Ephesians 4:26-27 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
The person you are not forgiving is also a child of God. How must God relate to you or forgive you if you can’t forgive. Remember that the offender has moved on, some might not even realized they have hurt you.
