We are here again in anticipation for the new year, what will it bring for us? Man and Woman of God will be making declarations and prophecies or have already made them. We are very good at reciting the promises of man and woman of God and also what God promised through His Word. There are conditions to the promises. There are few things that I think one must remember as we go into the new year.
1. Forgive and seek forgiveness.
Don’t go to 2018 with baggage. The people who hurt your since primary have moved on, you are only affecting yourself. You cannot think positive with baggage in your mind. The only thing that people owe you is love, same as you. Un-forgiveness contaminate and prevents the flow of the anointing in our life. Colossians 3:13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.
Matthew 5:23-24 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Ephesians 4:30-32 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. [31] Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
#Free yourself, ask God for a forgiving heart.
2. We need a new instruction from God.
What is God expecting from you. What are the new things you must start and what are things you must stop, what must you continue with? Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
Exodus 33:13-14 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” People will suggest and give advices but seek advice from God.
Genesis 22:9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. The position determine the provision. There are things you have to get rid of just because of where you want to go. Psalm 25:4-5 Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. Where you are now, is it instruction from God? Before you take a journey, enquirer with God so you can be properly directed and protected. Romans 1:13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.
#When you walk with God, there will be fruits in what you are doing.
3. Wisdom
We need wisdom to make wise decisions. We need wisdom how to handle the people of God. We need wisdom to handle what God Blessed us with. Proverbs 7:4 Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family.
#Wisdom is knowing what needs to be done now.
4. Perseverance
We will will stumble along the way, the trick is to fight on. It’s not how many times you fall but how many times you rise. In a race there are casualties. Don’t be the one. 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
In a race, there are those who stumble and fall, there are those who stop running and walk to to the finish line, there are those who run out of gas crash out. Proverbs 4:25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
#As a Christian focus on the cross, don’t allow distractions to move your eyes from it.
5. Faith to start.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. The declarations that were made, requires us to put it in our hearts and run with it. Believe in the prophets. Your belief must influence your behavior and your faith. Your faith influences your decisions. There are things that will happen to you because of what’s is coming tomorrow. Matthew 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. If you are believing God for a Business, start registering, do research. If you are going to register at tertiary, investigate the field you want to go. One of the responsibility of the Set Man is to help those who follow him to grow in faith. When a man or woman of God pray and declare healing, in the spirit it is done but the person prayed for still need to register in his mind that he can walk hence after few steps the confidence is built and they start running. After Peter declared healing for the lame man, he held him by the hand and walked with him. James 2:14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?
6. Be content.
To be content does not not mean accept mediocre. 2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. Be happy with with yourself, your foam and your character. You cannot have a positive mind in an unhappy atmosphere. Know that there is something that you are good at. Discontentment will always stand on the way of who you should be. It will stop you from being yourself. People always look to something that they don’t have and forget what they have.
The salary that was your dream is the same salary that you are earning now and you are still unhappy. Anyone who want to be happy, is one who look at one thing and grow it.
7. Make the Bible your friend.
Make the Bible your friend, that’s how you will maintain the blessings Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
